Question: Feels like I have no power steering

I became stuck in the snow and put the car into AWD. I heard a thud thud. Put the car into reverse and became unstuck. Put the car back into 2WD and suddenly the car feels like it has no power steering what so ever. It is very hard to turn the steering wheel. I had a mechanic look at it and he said the 4WD is working like it should. Could be the power steering pump or some sort of steering gear?? Any ideas??

You might need to service your 4 wheel drive transmission or differential asap
