Question: Makes it sound like a Diesel...?
Two days ago, after I drove my '98 Camaro (base model) for about half an hour and shut it off, it sounded like there was still a fan running for about 5-10 minutes after. I finally got that to shut off and not entirely sure that this is part of the problem, but figured maybe somebody knows. Then yesterday, as I was driving home, I lost a lot of the power it usually has for acceleration. As I was sitting at a red light, the engine started tapping pretty loudly (my friend said it sounded like a diesel) and shut off, pouring smoke out of the engine. I waited about 10 minutes, got it started and pulled it back to my parking lot (less than a mile away, going less than 25 mph). As I parked it, it shut off, again pouring smoke out of the engine. My friend said it might be a head gasket, but it didn't make much sense to me with the knocking.
